Principal’s message
On behalf of the polytechnic's, the trainers, the students council, the wider student body and the entire The Nyandarua National Polytechnic fraternity: I would like to officially welcome the global internet users to The Nyandarua National Polytechnic’s website. It is my hope that the site will open the Polytechnic, to the global world and encourage the staff and the student to use internet as a base for advancing instruction delivery and research.
TNNP whose students population grew from 25 in 2006 to 1700 in 2019 offers courses in the following departments:
- Business studies
- Electrical/Electronics engineering
- Automotive engineering
- ICT
- Building & Civil engineering/Building & Construction
- General Agriculture
- Liberal studies
- Agricultural engineering
- Food & Beverage
It is our hope to reach the government target of 5000 students by the year 2020. Our training is skill based and we will open trainees to the new CBET curriculum by May 2021 for selected courses in Agriculture, Electrical and Electronics engineering and Building & Civil engineering.
The Polytechnic plans to improve on its capacity and quality of service delivery through the implementation of performance Contract, Strategic Plan and Quality Management system of ISO 9001:2015. To take active part in the Big 4 agenda we are liasing with the department of TVET to actively contribute in training in value addition in production of tomatoes and potatoes as active member of the A-TVET institutions. The Institute is also intending to collaborate with the Nyandarua County integrated development plan and our Strategic Plan.
To contribute to the affordable housing agenda, we are making affordable concrete poles. TNNP will be the first beneficially from this project. The Polytechnic is also collaborating with the sister institutions to adopt best skills development and training practices. Our research team visited RVTTI to capacity build in this field, the food and beverage department is in constant contact with Nkabune TTI to star and run the department while the Agriculture trainings are to visit Meru N.P and RVIST to up skill in the field.
The third graduation ceremony took place in May 2019 with 433 graduands. I am greatly indebted to the Council for the imminence support in all our endavours and to the entire top administrative management including the Deputy Principal Administration and Finance Mrs. Gachenge, the Deputy Principal Academics Mr. Jacob, the Dean of Students Mr. Waithanje, the Registrar Mr. Wanjohi, the Quality Assurance and Standard (QAS) officer Mr. Macharia, the System Administrator Mr Gedion Njoroge, and the HODs of the various departments and the entire team of trainers.
