Sensitization on Drug Abuse and Mental Health

Today, we had the privilege of hosting a highly educative session facilitated by Hon. John Mututho, the founder of JOMEC Organization. Hon. Mututho, a renowned advocate for social change and former NACADA Chairman, engaged our trainees and staff in a powerful discussion on addiction and mental health.
He sensitized on the dangers of substance abuse, the importance of early intervention, and the need to prioritize mental well-being in today’s fast-paced world. His insights, drawn from years of public service and advocacy, were both eye-opening and inspiring. Notably, he referenced the Book of Proverbs 23:19-20 among others, emphasizing the wisdom found in avoiding harmful paths.
Our Chief Principal Dr. Felix Mung’atu also emphasized the crucial need for developing well-rounded and responsible professionals. He highlighted that this goes beyond academic excellence, encompassing the nurturing of critical thinking, creativity, and a strong sense of civic duty and social responsibility. “The polytechnic aims to equip graduates not only with the technical skills to excel in their chosen fields but also with the character and adaptability needed to thrive in a dynamic global landscape and contribute positively to the society,” he reiterated.
At Nyandarua National Polytechnic, we are proud to have a proactive guidance and counselling department that ensures our trainees receive essential support and resources when faced with challenges.
